The Magenta Foundation, based in Toronto, Canada, opened its doors in 2004. Magenta works with other individuals and organizations, within the arts community and beyond, to broaden the domestic and international recognition of Canadian artists. Magenta also brings international contemporary art to Canadian audiences.

Robyn Cumming is a photo-based artist working in Toronto. She received a B.F.A. from Ryerson University and an MFA from York University. She has been described as, “the most deadpan funny artist using film since French director Jacques Tati” (Peter Goddard, Toronto Star) with “an uncanny ability to conjure up entire short stories in a single image” (David Jager, Now magazine). Cumming’s work has been exhibited in various Toronto venues, including the Harbourfront Centre, The Distillery, Gallery 44 and Xexe Gallery, and it can also can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. Her photographs have been purchased into the public collection at the Kiyosato Museum of Contemporary Photography in Japan.

Adrian Fish is a Toronto- and Halifax-based artist, currently Assistant Professor at NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Continuing his practice of documenting contemporary architectural spaces, the Staged project surveys theatres located in Toronto, and presents a variety of designs over nearly nine decades. Fish has exhibited in a number of public institutions, artist-run centres and commercial galleries in such Canadian cities as Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax, and internationally in New York City and Tokyo.
Jamie Campbell is a graduate of Ryerson University’s School of Image Arts with a B.F.A in Photographic Studies. His work, inspired by the misfortune of human banality, has been best quoted as appearing, “brilliantly drab and introverted.” Concentrating on core issues including vulnerability and insecurity, he employs satirical overtones to express his ideas. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Campbell now lives and works in Toronto. His photography has been exhibited in both Toronto and New York, and has been published in both Canada and the U.K.

Christopher LaMarca studied Environmental Studies and Biology at the University of Oregon, a degree that led him to pursue photographic projects documenting environmental issues. His work on the protection of old growth forests against logging garnered him numerous awards, including PDN's 30 Emerging Photographers and NPPA's Best of Photography. His Forest Defender project was featured in the 2006-2007 ICP triennial, Ecotopia; along with being published in both Aperture and Art Review. LaMarca is currently working on his first book, Forest Defenders, The Confrontational American Landscape. It will be published by Powerhouse Books in the spring of 2008.
